sastisfaction (specially posted for Kelvin)
isnt it funny how God works? i was doing my quiet time today on sastisfaction, when i came across kelvin's blog blogging about "sastisfaction". but well i hope that this can help.
i totally disagree with your phrase "life is satisfying everyone around you, endlessly hopelessly."
The quiet time material below will tell you that life isnt about satisfying everyone around you. you do not have to satisfy them. bring them to God, and God will do the work.
(an extract from Our Journey Sept 11):
Read Isaiah 55:1-6
1
"Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. 2
Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. 3 Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David. 4 See, I have made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander of the peoples. 5 Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations that do not know you will hasten to you, because of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor." 6 Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
Have you ever noticed that one of the most common human experiences is the most common human experiences is the inability to be completely satisfied? God wants us to find sastisfaction in a daily relationship with him rather than waste our time and effort on things that cannot sastisfy.Isaiah 55:1 contains one of the most poetic and beautiful expressions of grace in the Bible: "Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price."
On the heels of the invitation, God posed the question that haunts all of Adam's descendants. "Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy?" Then, like a frustrated parent who is determined to get through to his child, he said, "Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food."
God's prescription for those who posses an inner thirst and hunger they cannot fill is implied in Isaiah 55:6, "Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near."
I believe God creates and activates a nagging dissatisfaction in every person. There is an excellent reason for this. According to 2 Peter 3:9, God doesn't want anyone to perish. Rather, he wants everyone to come to repentance. God gave us a will so we could choose whether or not to accept his invitation. But he purposely created within us a need that only he can meet.
Many come to Jesus out of their search for something to fill that need; yet, after receiving his salvation they go elsewhere for further sastisfaction. Christians can be meserable dissatisfied if they accept Jesus' salvation but reject the fullness of a daily relationship with him. God offers us so much more than we usually choose to enjoy.
Dissastisfaction is not a terrible thing - it's a God thing. It's only terrible thing when we don't let it lead us to Jesus. Only he can fully satisfy out thirsty and hungry hearts. - Berth Moore-----------------------------------------
in fact, life is about being salt and light to the world. to set an example to the world around us. life is all about glorifying God
NOT YOURSELVES it's also about having a personal relationship with God.
to kelvin and shuhui: remember to sing praises to God even in time of difficulties for He will see us through. trust that He wouldnt let us go through difficulties that we cannot handle. it isnt the end of the world yet. uplift all your saddness to him. he's waiting for you to seek him. there, you'll find an unexplainable comfort where it can only be found in God. may God Bless both of you! :) All the best in life!
